My name is Matthew and I am a registered clinical counsellor with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have a BA in psychology and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology as well as numerous other trainings in mental health and social work. I believe in a nonjudgmental, compassionate, and philosophical basis to personal counselling that combines evidence-based treatments like cognitive-behavioral therapy and EMDR with traditional sources of wisdom such as Stoicism. I am interested in helping clients harness their innate resources and discover the deeper meaning and solutions to their presented problems. I am offering my services to adults and adolescents who may be experiencing a range of issues including, but not limited to: emotional problems (anger, depression, anxiety, ect.), relationships/communication issues, addictions/habit change, stress/trauma, life-transitions, as well as the search for meaning, identity, and spirituality. I am also an experienced meditator and trained yoga teacher with a broad interest in mindfulness, breathwork, and mind-body awareness. These practices have helped me develop my own sense of self-awareness and self-regulation, and I think they have something to offer those who are interested in both healing and flourishing.
